Music by Dimitri Tiomkin
This classic Western movie suite comes to us from 1948, a time of sweeping strings and sentimental horn sections. Although the main theme does not kick in until after a third of the music has passed, we then hear it often enough to not forget. This has been considered by many to be the best Western movie suites ever. I cannot say, but since Mr. Tiomkin did many western motion picture scores, this is a good representation of what he was capable of accomplishing during his long career in Hollywood.
