Elf Movie Suite

Elf Movie Suite
Music by John Debney

For the holiday season, we have this charming little gem of a movie suite by the prolific composer, John Debney, who has done over 100 other soundtrack scores. Taking us on a short journey into the holidays, we can listen with delight as we whistle along with the softly played strings and underscored themes. This will be the final Holiday movie suite for this season, but I really want to wish you the very best and as always, enjoy life as if each day is your last. -MJ

Home Alone Movie Suite

Home Alone Movie Suite
Music by John Williams

Frantic pacing mixed with some familiar holiday themes highlight this movie suite from Mr. Williams. When this was released in 1990 it garnered the composer an oscar nomination for Best Original Score, in no small part due to the song "Somewhere In My Memory" which is revisited throughout the suite on mumerous occasions. With a timing of 18:01 this flies by in record time. I hope you enjoy it during your holiday season.  -MJ

Home Alone 2 Movie Suite

Home Alone 2 Movie Suite
Music by John Williams

Although this dates from 1992, we can still enjoy the way John Williams compells us into listening to his lyrical cues that are reminiscent of Raiders or Hook with a festive holiday flair. Borrowing a little bit from his first Home Alone score, he adds some new cues here, some new riffs there and then "presto" we have a brond new movie suite that can be listened to anytime, but feels most at home during the holiday season. With a timing of 27:27, you'll probably want to add this to your library. Enjoy!  -MJ

The Nightmare Before Christmas Movie Suite

Nightmare Before Christmas Suite
Music by Danny Elfman

Since it is still the holiday season, we have this quirky movie suite from Mr. Elfman that runs the gamut from scary to happy with a thorough helping of jazz thrown in to confuse us. The score was filled with vocals and dialogue, so once they were stripped away we were left with a suite that is imaginative, fun and filled with holiday spirit. With a timing of 16:49 this is over way too quickly for my tastes. Enjoy this movie suite and your holidays.  -MJ

How The Grinch Stole Christmas Movie Suite

How The Grinch Stole Christmas Suite
Music by James Horner

Here is another holiday favorite that was penned by the prolific James Horner. The score was filled with choral cues and plenty of dialogue, but fortunately the movie suite has that holiday feel with the usual dramatic flair we expect from Mr. Horner. Certainly, once you listen to this, file it away for next year and make it a part of your Holiday music traditions. I hope you enjoy.  -MJ

Polar Express, The Suite

The Polar Express Suite
Music by Alan Silvestri

To celebrate the holiday season, we have a short movie suite from Mr. Silvestri that fills us with warm feelings and hope, just as holiday music should.  Most of the vocals have been removed and the order has been reworked to give us a flowing composition.  With a timing of only 10:19 this is a gem that passes too quickly; just like the holidays! Enjoy! -MJ
