Return Of The Magnificent Seven Suite

Without actually writing much new music for this movie suite from 1966, Mr. Berstein re-worked his original score from The Magnificent Seven to come up with what is agruably the better of the two. We are rocked by the original motif but quickly move into other emotionally charged cues that lightly utilize the original while breaking new ground. This is probably what Bernstein wanted to acheive from the outset, but of course, we'll never really know. With a timing of 22:10, compare this to the original and see which one you enjoy more. Some say that this is the best western movie suite ever. Some even say it's the best motion picture soundtrack of all time. Some others say that it was the first "real" motion picture score of the modern age of movies. Still others say that it is a boring, monotonous work of cookie dough. What does Sir Malcolm say? Of course, he says that this movie suite is pounding, full of wonderful themes and goes from zero to one hundred instantaneously! It is extremely fun to listen to and yes, maybe it's a little repetitious, but it is certainly one of the best that there ever was. And of course, I really hope you enjoy!! -MJ
