This classic award winner from 1965 has the sound of olde Russia with the strings of a singing balalaika that merges into the orchestral cues. The main theme of this suite meanders in and out as it starts and stops many times. Okay, it is a bit repetitious, but you can't help but forgive Mr. Jarre since he was composing his score in the accepted fashion of the day. If you have never heard this, give it a listen. Lawrence of Arabia Suite

It's been awhile since we had a classic movie suite, so here is an amazing suite from 1962 from one of the all-time master composer's of motion picture soundtracks, Maurice Jarre. Utilizing the percussion section of the orchestra to get us started, the cues shift back and forth from strings to horns to drums like the shifting sands of the dessert as we are taken on a lyrical musical adventure. Although much of this becomes slightly repetitious, you can forgive Mr. Jarre because that is how it was done 50 years ago.  With a timing of 26:27, if you haven't heard this before, I think you'll enjoy.
