The Avengers Movie Suite

The Avengers Movie Suite

While we listen, this movie suite shows us that Mr. Silvestri is definitely in the house. He has taken the Comic Action Adventure genre and schooled many of the current crop of composers on how to achieve complete mastery. Since every scene cannot be a pitched battle of good versus evil, he has utilized a variety of his skills to build the intensity properly with carefully layered themes and although he has embraced the synthesizer, he certainly has not forgotten about the rest of the orchestra's instruments. With a timing of 31:19 we end up with an entertaining romp full of bombastic horns, thumping percussion and harrowing sound. Of course, you will enjoy this one!  -MJ

Thor Movie Suite

Utilizing all the instruments at his disposal, Mr.Doyle has crafted a thunderous movie suite that pushes the limits of sound. The main theme is first heard about 4 minutes in and weaves its way throughout the rest of the suite, while the endless percussion and synthesizers create a lasting impression. This is an action-adventure movie suite and we are only slowed down slightly as we drive to the final ending notes. With a timing of 25:42, I hope you enjoy.  -MJ

In this 1973 version of The Three Musketeers, Mr. Legrand barrowed heavily on French composer's to bring us a rollicking, swashbuckling movie suite that properly introduces us to this frequently copied story of medieval France. From the opening training sequence to the finale' at court, this movie suite flows well and with a timing of 23:20, I really hope you'll enjoy this.  -MJ

The Four Musketeers Movie Suite

The Four Musketeers Suite - 1974

This 1974 sequel to the previous year's The Three Musketeers, follows a similar path musically with many period instruments such as a harpsichord and the feel of medieval France. Although Mr. Schifrin scored an interesting piece with lush strings and powerful moments of action there is no actual main theme presented. What we end up with is a movie suite of loosely connected musical moments that are entertaining, but more like a visit to a French concert of sorts. With a timing of 19:02 I hope you enjoy. -MJ
